Police have received several reports of a scam targeting taxi drivers.
In such cases, the scammer would request for taxi drivers to alight him
at a certain location on the pretext of wanting to collect some items.
He would subsequently claim of not having sufficient money to make
the collection and would request for the amount from the taxi driver
with the promise of returning the money subsequently (example, after
withdrawing from a nearby ATM machine or upon reaching the final destination).
After getting the money and leaving the taxi, the subject never returned.
Based on the reports that had been lodged, the subject is believed to be
a male Malay in his 40s and of medium built. He would normally cite Haig Rd
market as his destination.
Please exercise caution, and avoid falling victim to scammers.
